Morwad Marble (sometimes also called ‘Morwar’ or ‘Milky Coral’) is white marble from Rajnagar region in Rajasthan, India.
Morwad is the most mined marble of India and is also exported all over the world. Morwad marble is a rock resulting from metamorphism of sedimentary carbonate rocks, most commonly limestone with some dolomite rock. Metamorphism causes variable recrystallization of the original carbonate mineral grains. Morwad marble is widely used in both commercial and residential purposes as it is widely available in all budgets. This is characterised by the presence of white crystalline texture with grains, quartz and veins as addition to the natural beauty of the stone. The quality of the material and the corresponding rate is a factor of the lot’s size, colour, texture, grain and imperfections. The general rule of thumb is that the ‘whiter’ the lot, the more expensive the material is.
